Benelux Chamber Lights Up Shanghai’s Skyline for Its 25th Anniversary

For two minutes on Thursday, 17 September, “25 Years of the Benelux Chamber” lit up the CITI Building on Shanghai’s iconic skyline. It was a proud moment for our team, our members and the community that has helped shape the Chamber over the past quarter of a century.

Our annual Back to Business Drinks brought more than 100 guests to Spago Shanghai at The St. Regis on the Bund for an evening of reconnecting after summer and welcoming new faces. With members representing 85% of attendees, the evening reflected the strong engagement within our growing community. Over canapés, cocktails and Belgian beers, conversations flowed against the backdrop of the Bund.

General Manager Jonathan Xu and newly appointed Chairman Philippe Snel addressed the community as we head into a busy autumn and continue our anniversary celebrations. We were also pleased to welcome Koen Sizoo, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai, who thanked the Chamber for its continued support and introduced the Consulate’s new economic colleagues, Jan-Jaap Gerards and Stijn Wijker.

With more than 230 members , our 25th anniversary comes at a moment of continued growth. The evening was an opportunity to celebrate the people and companies behind that progress: those who have supported the Chamber for many years, and those just beginning their journey with us.

Then came the moment to turn our eyes towards the CITI Building. Seeing our anniversary message illuminate the skyline brought months of preparation to life. For our team, it was a reminder of what can happen when ambitious ideas are given the confidence, ownership and collective effort to become reality.

Our sincere thanks go to the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Shanghai for sponsoring the evening, and to our event partners, MSA Asia and Kasteel, for their continued support.

To everyone who joined us: thank you for being part of this milestone. Twenty-five years into our story, there is still plenty to build—and plenty to celebrate together.
