Exploring Yancheng’s Green Ambitions
On September 11–12, the Benelux Chamber of Commerce travelled to Yancheng together with two of our members for the 2026 Experience Jiangsu for Multinational Companies programme. The two-day visit brought together companies, government representatives and experts to explore zero-carbon industrial parks and opportunities for international cooperation.

Under the theme “Embrace the Green Commitment to Empower a Zero-Carbon Future,” Friday’s conference focused on how green development can support industrial progress. For our Chamber and participating members, it was an opportunity to hear about Yancheng’s plans and exchange perspectives with professionals working in the field. Conversations continued over dinner, allowing participants to build connections beyond the conference programme.

Saturday brought these discussions into the field. Following a visit to Holland Flower Park, the delegation toured Dafeng Port Zero-Carbon Industrial Park for a closer look at how Yancheng is putting its green ambitions into practice. The visit provided context for the previous day’s discussions, connecting the city’s plans with developments on the ground.

After a working lunch, the programme continued at the Yancheng National Rare Birds Nature Reserve, a habitat for the endangered red-crowned crane. This final stop added a different perspective to the visit, highlighting the importance of ecological conservation alongside industrial development.
We returned to Shanghai with new connections and a clearer understanding of Yancheng’s approach to green development. Thank you to the organisers for the invitation and warm welcome, and to our members for joining us on this visit.
