In Memoriam - Jan Wulfen van Laar

Dear members and friends of Bencham. 

It is with great sadness I hereby have to inform you that our former and long standing board member Jan Wulfen van Laar has on passed away July 8, 2025.

Jan has played a key role within the Bencham and in our Dutch community in Guangzhou. Not just in the role that he played in the Bencham and the NVG, but also in all the efforts he took to keep together our community and above all the person who he was. 

Jan was a kind, loving soul who touched many hearts with his warmth, strength, and quiet courage. He uniquely could make everyone feel at home in an instant. 

The overall sadness can hardly be described. We wish his loving wife Aiza, his family and close friends strength and condolences with this great loss. 

Jan passed away peacefully. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he finds peace.
